From 6 to 8 June Tibetan Medicare System (TMS) review meetings were held at the Department of Health in the presence of Medical Officer Dr Sonam Topgyal from Delek hospital, Dr Yonten Tsomo from Tibetan Primary Health Centre Bir, TMS Consultant Aloke Gupta and Program Officer Pema Youdon with all staff of TMS.

In Financial Year 2021-2022, top 5 claims in the TMS were Eye Problems, COVID-19, Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS), Respiratory disease and biliary disease etc. In 2022-2023, a total of 24,101 Tibetans in India have enrolled in the TMS of which 23,116 are in the category of household and 985 are in the individual category.

This year, a new health benefit for COVID19 patients is introduced. From now, due to COVID-19 or its new variants, if a TMS member gets hospitalised in the ICU and non ICU then he or she can avail of 7000 rs and 3500 per day irrespective of the number of days they are admitted in the hospital. Furthermore, TMS is now going to increase the benefit coverage from the next year 2023 to 2024.
